Richard Tuma Jr.Crack! The ball hit the bat, the crowd cheered, and his parents watched proudly. It was May of 1986, and Richard Tuma hit the winning homerun for his little league baseball team. Everyone knew it then, at that moment- this kid was destined for greatness. But as his coach handed him the game ball, Richard smiled and said, "It was a team effort, coach. Everyone deserves the game ball!"

This was just the beginning of his outstanding list of selfless accomplishments. Richard Tuma, now a 35-year-old businessman, has dedicated his life to improving the lives of others. He is the owner/president of Revolutionary Technology Nutrition. Revolutionary Technology Nutrition was founded when Mr. Richard Tuma recognized the demand for quality nutritional supplements that are safe, effective, and natural. Richard's philosophy is simple. He believes being healthy and fit will ensure longevity and total wellness. Anyone can accomplish this with the right guidance and motivation. In fact, Revolutionary Technology Nutrition is committed to providing its clients with products that will help them achieve their goals.

You might be wondering how such a young man began this business, and what motivated him to get started. Actually, it is a very interesting story. As a young boy, Richard had a difficult time gaining weight. No matter what he ate, he remained very thin. As he got older, this made it challenging for him to continue to excel in sports. As he approached high school, steroids were often used by the other athletes. Richard knew this was not the path for him. At the age of fifteen, he decided to make strength training a regular part of his routine. He developed into a tremendous varsity athlete who participated in baseball, football, and martial arts. He studied Jeet Kune Do, Aikido, and is a first degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Through high school, Rich worked in local gyms and health food stores. At first, he worked at the desk answering phones and helping new clients. His love for helping others fueled his desire to become a certified personal trainer. Rich was certified through AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) while he attended College. Later he earned a personal trainer certification from ACE (American Council on Exercise) and is a certified Speed Agility & Quickness trainer through NESTA . He also went to a separate school to earn a degree in Massage Therapy.

In college, he studied nutrition and worked towards a degree in Dietetic Technology and is a certified Fitness Nutritionist through NESTA. Rich always felt that total body health meant more than looking good on the outside. Health and nutrition became an intricate part of his personal training. He rejected the idea of diet pills and steroids, and embraced a natural, holistic approach to physical fitness.

Rich views his own physique as an example of the benefits of hard work and devotion. In 1992, he entered the first Mr. Fitness Contest in Atlanta. He was nineteen years old, and came in 5th place. He was the youngest contestant ever to place in the top five. At the contest, a photographer noticed Rich and urged him to try modeling. Although hesitant, he teamed up with an agent and modeled for several fitness magazines. But he wanted the magazines to use more than just his pictures. So, in many of his layouts, the magazines included articles, written by Rich, about working out properly without overstressing any of the muscle groups. Richard competed in the Mr. Fitness shows 5 years in a row from(1992-96), placing in the top ten 3 times. Rich increased his client base and saved his money to open up his own personal training studio with business partner Marc Napoliello.

Together, Rich and Marc opened Elite Personal Health and Fitness Center in Rahway in 1996. It was not a gym, but a personal training studio where clients could meet with either Rich or Marc on a one-on-one basis. There was also a private room for Rich to do Massage Therapy. He never wanted his clients to feel overworked or stressed in any way, so massage seemed to be the perfect touch! In just two years, Elite's popularity spread, and there was a demand for a larger facility. In March of 1998, Rich and Marc moved their business to Clark, and Elite expanded to a full service gym with a nautilus strength training, cardiovascular machines, massage therapy, locker rooms, and a juice bar. This is no ordinary gym, it is a total physical fitness center with customized personal training programs designed specifically to fit each individual who walks through the door.

Rich trained with Tae Bo legend Billy Blanks at the Omega Institute. He utilized this workshop to facilitate kickboxing classes of his own. Rich finds this type of exercise to have permanent benefits. Since he doesn't want anyone to feel left out or far behind, an hour prior to the class he invites beginners to learn the correct way to do the moves. While some can get a little tricky, he doesn't want to risk anyone injuring him/herself or straining his/her muscles. Rich feels many people do not exercise because of the soreness that often follows a workout. He trains his clients on proper stretching and technique to avoid unnecessary aches and pains.

Massage Therapy is the perfect pair to alleviate the strain post workout. With the need to help his clients in every way possible physically and mentally, Rich is also certified in Neuromuscular Therapy. He is a practicing massage therapist with over 10 years experience. He is educated in Swedish, NMT, Sport Massage, Thai Yoga Bodywork, Geriatric Massage and Integrated Massage. Rich is a Nationally Certified Massage therapist (NCBTMB) which recognizes him as having mastered a core of the basic knowledge required to practice massage therapy, bodywork and Code of Ethics.

As Whitney Lowe, a NCBTMB chairperson says, "Passing this exam means that a Massage Therapist or bodyworker has mastered the basic professional levels of knowledge essential for performing safe and effective programs of therapy for clients, responding to typical questions and problems that arise in a session."
Rich is also a certified Mind Body Fitness Specialist through (NESTA) which helps give people the mental edge to achieve success in training and nutrition. Rich believes to reach your goal you need to have the right attitude along with proper training, nutrition, and motivation. Rich likes to spend his free time lecturing on fitness and nutrition at offices, companies, organizations, radio, TV and at different schools throughout the Tri-State area.

On November 13, 2004 Rich made a comeback competing in the World WNBF Mr. Fitness contest after a 8 year layoff. Rich came in the best shape of his life at 32 years old and won the Mr. Fitness title. It was a big accomplishment for him and to have next to his name,” World Mr. Fitness” is a dream and honor to him.

Recently, Richard brought his passion of helping people to a new level with the creation of Revolutionary Technology Nutrition. Richard only uses products that are safe, natural, and effective.
